Welcome, scientists and researchers. NF Innovations (NFI) provides high-performance computing infrastructure for scientific workloads that need sustained, parallel execution.
This grant offers limited, no-cost compute access to graduate-level researchers who need real cluster time to validate methods, run benchmarks, or complete defined experiments. This is short-term access to production HPC systems.
We also offer no-cost basic training on our cluster mechanics (HPC environment basics, system navigation, resource limits, etc.).
Live seminars and training for specific scientific tools and methods (GROMACS, LAMMPS, Virtual screening, etc.) are available through us and our partners at discounted rates.
What the Grant Provides
Selected applicants receive:
- 100 CPU core-hours on NFI HPC infrastructure.
- Access to a standard shared queue suitable for scientific batch workload.
- A defined usage window (typically 2–4 weeks).
- Basic onboarding and guidance on using our platform.
Intended Use
The grant is designed for bounded, well-defined work, such as:
- Benchmarking molecular dynamics workflows (GROMACS, NAMD).
- Small-scale virtual screening or computational biology pipelines.
- Parallel scientific workloads requiring more resources than a workstation.
- Method validation prior to a larger study or proposal.
Eligibility
You should apply if you are:
- A current graduate student or postdoctoral researcher.
- Able to define a clear computational task that fits within the grant limits.
- We prioritize applicants who can clearly explain what will be run, why cluster compute is required, and what outcome might be expected.
Expectations
By participating in this grant program, we ask that you:
- Acknowledge NF Innovations in any publications, posters, or presentations that result from work conducted on our HPC infrastructure.
- Provide brief written feedback on your experience using the infrastructure.
- Share your experience with colleagues and friends who may benefit from access to our high-performance computing resources.
- Optionally provide a testimonial, which can be used by NFI for outreach and academic engagement.
Selection Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selection is based on clarity, feasibility, and alignment with available resources - absolutely not seniority or institution prestige. NFI is based in the United States but applicants from around the world are invited to apply.
